With the warm spring weather comes the wicked, evil, piece of shit, rage-inducing carpenter ants. They are back and they are really starting to piss me off.
We've been crushing the bastards as soon as they appear. For a while we were cleaning them up, but I'm starting to think that we should leave their smashed destroyed carcasses around as a warning. You are not welcome Mr. Carpenter Ant. Eat shit and die. Get out of my house!!
After almost three years of this battle, tons of useless traps, sprays and powders, I finally called in the big guns. Wednesday afternoon, the Orkin Man is coming. Feel the Orkin wrath you unwanted visitors from hell...

Last weekend was our big trip to New York city. We were there for four days, three nights and lots of drinks... our whirlwind trip included a really nice hotel overlooking Central Park (not our room), a bike tour through the park, dinner at a fabulous restaurant, sightseeing galore, a day of really cold and rainy miserable weather, one lost wallet, one big fight caused by said lost wallet, an outing to the Natural museum of History, dinner at Whole Foods, really incredible seats to Wicked (best. musical. ever.), dessert and drinks at cool bar after, more tasty drinks, a brunch cruise with spicy bloody mary's, a helicopter tour, many many many miles of walking, big foot blisters, dinner in Chinatown, dinner in Little Italy, some shopping that resulted in the best purse ever, lots of taxi rides, and a lot of extra time in Kennedy airport with we did our best to kill with many beers.
And here's the best thing I got from NYC...

It's a bobble-head Megatron! Good stuff. It was an incredible trip.

Guess what I'm listening to right now? The voices in my head? No. SIRIUS radio? No.
I am listening to Operation Mindcrime II. It's been 18 years since the first Mindcrime. The last time I waited 18 years for anything was for Episode I. And you know what a let down that was. The excitement wasn't quite the same, but I have been looking forward to it for awhile now. Monday night, the great great House of Guitars was open at midnight to sell it. The thought crossed my mind to go, but I have a pretty good feeling that my husband might have given me one of those looks. And who am I kidding? I was in a KFC chicken-induced coma by 9:30.
Anyway, my first impression is that is sounds a lot like Dream Theater. And that it's not as good as the first one. But what would be? I think this one is going to grow on me. I think I need to put this on the iPod and drive around and listen to it. The office environment isn't condusive to QueensrĂżche.
Now if you'll excuse me, there's an underground revolution working overtime...

Hey kids! Want to see what's in my desk drawer? Starting from the upper left, going clockwise: dark chocolate KitKats, chai green tea, a digital camera, box of disposable contacts, a bag of 'ludes and some Advil. And nothing even remotely business-related. Well, maybe the camera, since the company owns it.
