One Hit Wonders - Metal mania was just on VH1. I watched it, thinking I would see some of the obscure metal one-hit wonders. Did I? NO! And the bands that they featured had way more than one hit. Who is in charge of this shit programming? I think I should be, because VH1 does NOT know their hair metal.
The first band was Quiet Riot. One hit wonder? I don't think so. You got "Mental Health (bang your head)", "Cum on feel the noise", "Slick Black Cadillac" and "The Wild and the Young". That sounds like more than one hit to me.
Then they had Autograph. Ok, I can see why they'd think that Autograph would be a one-hitter with "Turn up the Radio". But, what about "She never looked that good to me"? Smells like a hit. That would be 2 by my count.
I gave them Vixen. But it was only because I felt bad for Shatner.
But by far the biggest travesty of this poor excuse for a show was the fact that they featured Ratt. Ratt???!!!?? WTF? Yeah, "Round & round" was probably their biggest hit, but what about "Lay it Down," "Wanted Man" (featured in Weird Science), "You're in love," "Slip of the Lip," "Way Cool Jr," "Dance," "Lack of Communication," "I want a woman," and "Back for More"? I realize I was just an art major, but that looks like more than one hit to me. Ratt was HUGE. I'm just glad I got to see them before the whole 2 separate Ratts fiasco. An interesting side note, John Corabi is playing guitar for the Ratt that doesn't have Stephen Pearcy. I love him.
