Dark secret confession time...
I love the movie, Showgirls. Yes, the cheesy Las Vagas stripper movie starring Jessie Spano. I remember it came out when I was in college. We actually went to go and see it in the theater. I think it is one of the most under appreciated movies of our time. Years from now, pretentious film school students will spend hours debating theories and plot lines from this cinematic classic. Whole courses of study will be dedicated to it. I can hear people asking, "Kris, what brought on all this Showgirl love?" Well, I hadn't really given this movie another thought since it's theatrical release, but VH1 has been playing it repeatedly for the last month or so. I was curious how they could show it without cutting out most the movie, considering there are boobs or kitty shots in every scene. So it was pretty much curiousity that brought me back to it. I watched the movie, and while there were some scenes that were mysteriously missing, most of the movie was intact. Then it hit me. The powers at VH1 went through each frame and drew on digital bras on the boobs. It was amazing, because while some looked really good, and were almost unnoticable, there were many more that looked like the shadow demons from Ghost. I hope there is a Showgirls II, Jessie Spano Strikes Back in the works.
